Marty Aronoff

Marty Aronoff has been working as a sports statistician to various television networks and production companies since 1975. He began locally in the Washington area, primarily on telecasts of the then-Washington Bullets games when his good friend, Warner Wolf, invited him to join the telecasts for which Warner was the play-by-play announcer. In 1982, Marty became the sports producer at Channel Nine in Washington for his longtime friend, the late Glenn Brenner. At the same time he continued to increase his workload as a statistician on sports telecasts, and he joined sportscaster Dick Stockton on CBS broadcasts of the NFL and NBA. He was also working college football and basketball games both in the D.C. are and around the country. In the latter part of 1983 Marty decided to concentrate exclusively on his career in television statistics, and for the past twenty-five years that has been his sole profession, working as many as 250 baseball, football and basketball games, Monday Night Football, Thursday college football and NBA and college basketball. He also does various games for the NBA on TNT. Saturday Major League Baseball for Fox and telecasts of numerous college basketball games—primarily those in the ACC and Big East conferences and for the DC area Comcast SportsNet. In addition, the former graduate of Woodrow Wilson High School in DC has been the game statistician for the Washington Wizards franchise since 1979 and, like another JCC Hall of Fame member—the honorable Abe Pollin—would dearly love to culminate his long association with the team by sharing in another World Championship.
