Richard Chvotkin has been the play by play announcer for Georgetown University Men’s Basketball since 1974. He has broadcast over 1000 games, including three Final Four Tournaments. He broadcasted every game of the Big East Tournament from 1982-1999. He was presented the Big East Conference Annual Media Award in 1998 for outstanding contributions to the Big East Conference and college basketball. From 1979-1985, Richard served as the television play by play announcer on Channel 5 television in Washington, D.C. Richard retired from the U.S. Army Reserves after 28 years in 1997 with the rank of Lt. Colonel. He has been on the treatment staff of the Psychiatric Institute of Washington, D.C. since 1975.
