Mike Jeffries
Mike Jeffries is a native of Bethesda, Maryland. He graduated from Walt Whitman High School, where he earned All-American honors for the school’s championship soccer team in 1979. After high school, Mike attended Duke University, starting every soccer game during his four year college career and winning the 1983 Hermann Trophy as the nation’s top college soccer player. After graduating from Duke with a degree in electrical engineering and public policy, Mike played professional soccer for the Minnesota Strikers for four years and for the Dallas Sidekicks for one season. After he was sidelined with an injury in 1988, he earned his United States Soccer Federation National “A” license as a certified soccer coach, and was awarded a master’s degree in finance from Tulane University. Mike got into coaching when he founded the premier Lafreniere Soccer Association in New Orleans. He has since worked in Major League Soccer as a head coach with the Dallas Burn and an assistant coach with the Chicago Fire, as well as for Duke University. Recently, Mike worked as a scout for the US National Soccer Team during the 2010 World Cup. He now lives in Downers Grove, Illinois, where he works as Director of Player Personnel for the Chicago Fire.
