Mark Karver
Mark Karver was an exceptional basketball player. At Bethesda Chevy Chase High School he started on the varsity team beginning as a 1Oth grader. In the regional final against Northwestern, Karver hit the game-winning shot from halfcourt, leading the team to the 1984 Maryland State Championship. He graduated B-CC as the career scoring leader and earned a host of awards including 1st Team All Met, Converse honorable mention All-American; and he played in the Capital Classic. Out of hundreds of scholarship offers he chose to attend the University of Maryland before transferring to George Washington University after his sophomore season. He was a silver medalist on the 1989 USA Maccabiah team in Israel. In 1992 Karver began a professional basketball career in Israel. He played competitively in 20 different European countries while establishing himself as one of Europe s best three point and foul shooters.
