Stanford A. Lavine is being remembered and honored as a talented athlete and·successful and accomplished sports physician. He received a full scholarship to play quarterback on the University of Maryland football team from 1946-1950. He still holds two Maryland records–longest pass play and longest punt return. For 35 years he was the orthopedic surgeon for all of the University of Maryland athletic teams. He was also the team physician of multiple professional teams including the Bullets and the Redskins.
