Solomon, a native Washingtonian, was a member of the Springbrook High School Varsity Swim Team. She was named All-County by the Journal Newspapers and All-Metro by The Washington Post. Solomon went on to the University of Maryland where she established herself as the second leading scorer on the women’s swim team. During her first year, she won 13 individual events and placed eighth at the ACC Championships. The following year, Solomon broke several school records and won four individual ACC events. In 1998-99, she was awarded an honorable mention as an All-American for her performance at the NCAA championships in the 200-yard freestyle relay. Solomon won four gold medals at the 1997 Maccabiah Games in Israel.
