Ronald Watts is honored for exceptional achievements in basketball. From his All High honors days at Wilson High School, Watts went on to captain at Wake Forest University, where he won All-Atlantic Coast Conference honors. In 1965, Watts captained the gold medal winning U.S. team in Tel Aviv, Israel at the Maccabiah Games. Shortly after, Watts joined the Boston Celtics in 1965-66 for its record setting 8th straight World Championship season. Injuries forced Watts to retire from the Celtics – but not from basketball. He has remained active by conducting a JCC basketball camp, hosting Special Olympics events, and joining Celtics alumni in a salute to coach Red Auerbach.
