MLK Day: A Day Of Service of Solidarity
January 20, 2025
10:00 - 3:00 PM
APPLY TODAY
In honor of MLK Day, help us build community through service. The Bender JCC and Habitat for Humanity Metro Maryland invite you to an interfaith community-wide playhouse build.
Thanks to a generous donation, fundraising goals are covered for participating teams.
Playhouses bring smiles…and money raised provides critical funding to help build affordable homes for lower-income families in our local community.
All are welcome to create a team! This event is suitable for ages 10+.
About the Playhouse Build
Ten volunteer teams (up to 8 people per team) representing diverse faith communities from around the area will come together to construct playhouses, which will be placed in the yards of Habitat for Humanity homeowners. These playhouses will provide a safe and joyful space for children to play and grow.
Who Can Apply?
We welcome applications from anyone who can form a group to participate. Faith organizations, Scout groups, sports teams, and individual families are all encouraged to apply.
How do I apply?
Fill out the application by clicking on the APPLY NOW link at the top of the page. Applications open on Monday, November 11 through Friday, December 6. Awarded teams will be announced on Friday, December 13.
What Happens if My Team Is Selected?
Selected teams will secure a spot at the event on Monday, January 20. In addition to the build day, teams will also engage in ongoing community bridge-building activities throughout the year. More details will be sent after selections are made.
