We are honored to welcome in person, author Margalit Fox and are excited to hear about her new book, “The Talented Mrs. Mandelbaum.” She tells the fascinating, true story of ‘Marm’ Mandelbaum, who arrived at the port of New York in steerage in 1850 and died as a notorious millionaire and a fugitive of the law nearly 50 years later.
Fox shows how Mandelbaum “was marginalized three times over: immigrant, woman and Jew,” but nevertheless became New York’s first female crime boss. So how did Mandelbaum go from struggling immigrant to a NYC crime boss 20 years later? It’s a tribute to Fox’s storytelling talents that this unique and mysterious woman has come to life!
With gratitude: We thank the Lessans Family Book Festival for the opportunity to present this Author Talk and Q&A. This book will be available for purchase following author Margalit Fox’s presentation.
