Doug Silverman
An outstanding high school defensive tackle for the state finalist Churchill Bulldogs, Doug Silverman fought for four years for the Princeton Tigers in the Ivy League football wars. In 1999, he won the coveted Richard W. Colman Scholar-Athlete Award. His defensive line coach said of him: “His determination, his toughness, his work ethic are second to none.” His head coach said: “Doug Silverman plays with more heart than I think any guy we’ve ever had in the program. You know when they say and athlete always has his motor running? That’s Doug Silverman.” As a Churchill High School student, Doug spent summers working as a counselor in the JCC special needs camp. A few years ago, he established the Max & Julia Silverman Keep Rolling Fund, in memory of his grandparents, to provide vital transportation for camper in the JCC’s special needs program.
