
Lisa Bard
Lisa Bard, MSW, is a Tae Kwon Do national medalist and won the Maryland Amateur Athletic Union Outstanding Athlete of the Year award in 1997. Lisa also competed in volleyball , softball and distance cycling until she was injured in an Air Force accident. After her accident, Lisa began competing in wheelchair sports. She i s now a point guard for a men’s wheelchair basketball team , as well as a women’s team and also coaches locally . She competes in weightlifting , slalom , table tennis and air rifles, and has taken gold medals in all individual events at the National Veterans Wheelchair Games annually since 2002. She has also helped her (otherwise) all-male softball team take fir st place in their league . Lisa has started distance handcycling competitively, and will receive her thirrd degree black belt in February 2005 .
