The Bender JCC Appoints Aimee Segal as Chief Program and Innovation Officer
Respected non-profit executive to help expand vision for stellar community experiences.
Rockville, MD, March 7, 2025 – The Bender Jewish Community Center of Greater Washington (Bender JCC) announced today the appointment of Aimee Segal as Chief Program and Innovation Officer (CPIO), effective June 1, 2025. Aimee brings a wealth of non-profit leadership experience to the role and will expand the Bender JCC’s commitment to offering stellar experiences for its members and guests.
“After an extensive national search, we are overjoyed to welcome Aimee Segal as our Chief Program and Innovation Officer (CPIO),” said Josh Bender, CEO, Bender JCC. “In this newly configured position on our Senior Leadership Team (SLT), Aimee will oversee all of the Bender JCC’s programmatic elements and staff, with a focus on meaningfully engaging members and guests through all ages and life stages, meeting their needs, and exceeding their expectations.”
Aimee has a distinguished career in non-profit leadership, most recently serving as Senior Advisor – Special Projects at the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum in Washington D.C., and brings over 30 years of strategic planning, communications, and programming experience to the Bender JCC. Through a range of senior leadership roles, Aimee has honed a special expertise in developing educational programs and advocacy initiatives that motivate communities to take action.
“The JCC movement played a formative role in my childhood and Jewish identity, and I was thrilled that my son and daughter also had the opportunity to attend preschool at the Bender JCC,” said Aimee Segal. “When I reflect on my children’s experiences and how this community embraced my family, I am eager to work alongside this incredibly talented Bender JCC team to ensure that other members feel this same connection.”
As part of the CPIO’s strategic portfolio, Aimee will:
- Oversee all the Bender JCC’s programmatic departments including: Adults and Seniors, Arts and Culture, The Bender Early Childhood Center (Bender ECC), Lessans Camp JCC, Inclusion Services, and Youth and Family Engagement.
- Develop and lead a unified vision for community life at the Bender JCC.
- Build an inspiring and comprehensive vision for both Jewish programming and cultural, educational, and social experiences.
- Support the growth of a data culture by using analytics to assess and grow programs.
In her new role, Aimee will inherit and steward a legacy of vibrant community engagement as the Bender JCC has, for generations, inspired connections throughout the Greater Washington Jewish Community while also serving the diversity of Montgomery County, including individuals of all abilities, backgrounds, faiths, and identities.
“Aimee intuitively understands and demonstrates the importance of taking an active role in our community, serving as a regular volunteer for Meals on Wheels via the Jewish Social Services Agency (JSSA) and the current President of the Board of Directors for Congregation Har Shalom in Potomac, Maryland,” said Josh Bender. “We are delighted and energized by the possibilities of welcoming a new, talented leader with an impressive track record in program development and a steadfast commitment to community.”
